Separate Bowls for your dogs
If puppies share the same bowl of food it is difficult to be sure that they both get a fair share !. Each dog should have its own bowl, although the food is often more interesting on the other dogs plate !. However if a dog is hungry and healthy he will eat. If he is healthy but wont eat he isn’t hungry so take the food away and let him miss a meal it wont hurt the dog. if any thing it will keep them from putting on weight to the point where they get Fat and Lazy its called Obesity !!.
Special Diets
Quality of feed is particularly important during puppy hood, to provide nutrients for the rapidly growing animal. A whelping bitch needs high quality food if she is to produce healthy puppies without putting undue strain on her own body resources. Pregnant animals will deplete their own tissues to provide sufficient nutrients for their puppies both in the uterus and afterwards when they are feeding off the mother. A bitch with a litter of several puppies will almost inevitably lose some weight, her condition needs to be watched carefully.
Complete Dry Feeds
Complete dry feeds are becoming very popular. They need minimal preparation, if so desired, they can simply be poured into a dog bowl and given to the dog. Semi - moist diets are not intended to provide a balanced diet on their own. Basically because they involve some degree of preparation before feeding. It is still fairly minimal, involving the addition of carbohydrate supplements as a mixer, often some form of biscuit is Added to balance the nutritional quality of the food. This is a psychologically important exercise for the owner, who likes to think that he or she is doing something for there dog, as previous generations did when they mixed a bowl of table scraps with some meat and gravy. The one thing to remember is that too much mixing of modern food can result in nutritional problems.
